Fire officials say a malfunctioning water heater may have caused a Saturday afternoon fire that destroyed a Fern Forest home.
According to a written Fire Department statement, eight units responded to the 3:08 p.m. alarm of the fire at 11-2253 Leila Rd. The first unit arrived 17 minutes later and found the home fully aflame. The fire was reportedly extinguished 20 minutes later, and damage was estimated at $50,000.
